Distributed Predictive Control Strategy for Frequency Restoration of Microgrids Considering Optimal Dispatch

Microgrids are the cornerstone for a new model of electrical generation based on renewable resources. Commonly microgrids controlled with centralised hierarchical structure, which is inherited from power systems. However, time-scale separation between traditional fast frequency restoration and slow economic dispatch may be counterproductive in long run because long-term increases prediction uncertainty. In an effort to improve economical operation microgrids, this work proposes distributed predictive control strategy isolated consensus that tackles both over same time-scale. The proposed controller can operate without knowledge microgrid's topology: instead, typical local measurements other information neighboring units required. Experimental results demonstrate robust load variations communication issues, but plug-and-play nature system preserved.
